Finding the right PHP editor

Having moved to Windows 8, I found myself on the hunt for a new PHP editor. When doing project work I always turn to Eclipse PDT as my editor of choice. I don’t think it’s brilliant, but I am very comfortable using the UI. When not working in PHP, I use Flash Builder for some light AS3 coding. So bouncing between Eclipse and Flash Builder and finding the UI’s similar is pretty handy.

However, the load Eclipse places on a machine is not ideal. I am running a new Samsung Chronos series 7 laptop and it feels the pain when Eclipse starts building it’s index. This got me to looking around at what other editors are out there. For one there is Aptana Studio 3, and yes I know it’s Eclipse based, but I think it’s worth a look. There is also jEdit – simple and very light weight.

If anyone has other editors they use, please let me know.
