“Fordson,” the #1 Moodle theme of 2017 according to our readers, has never been one to rest on its laurels. With a bold new top bar to double as a course navigation and management headquarters, Chris Kenniburg and the development team at the Dearborn School District continue to push the envelope on a highly customizable Moodle theme with the shortest learning curve possible.
Overarching navigation and control from the top bar. A top bar now becomes a reference point across the site, helpful mainly for new users. This way, each page can still show the context-specific options from the gear icon, and the site’s main menu remains unchanged.
Quick course management panel. A favorite of previous versions, the panel shows a handy menu that gives quick access to all Moodle places, from activities and course settings to the student management page and the gradebook.
Deeper integration of code-based enrollment. The top menu now shows the K-12-catered enrollment method using a numerical or QR code that instantly signs the user into the course and takes them to the course’s main page.
Course editing icons respect page scrolling. The “course edit” option, now on the top menu, will keep the user’s place in the page. That way, the user will be able to edit the section on the page directly.
